The Temple Of Princess Wencheng

Darirulai Temple or The Temple of Princess Wencheng is a Buddhist temple dating back to the Tang Dynasty, over 1,300 years ago. It is an important historical site. Buddhism became established in Tibet during the reign of king SongtsÃĪn Gampo, who died circa 650 AD. He had married a Chinese princess, Wencheng, who was Buddhist. She came to Tibet carrying as statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. It is to her honour that this temple is attributed.
