C.Y. Tung was the son of a Shanghai merchant family. He became rich as a shipping magnate. He had a massive shipping empire. The museum serves two purposes. The first is to tell the maritime history of China. This part of the exhibition takes up the ground floor of the building. The second part tells the history of C.Y. Tung and his company. This display is on the second floor of the building.
