Image: Guge was an ancient kingdom in Western Tibet and Tsaparang was the capital. The kingdom was centred in present-day Tsamda County, within Ngari Prefecture of Tibet. At various points in history after 10th century A.D, the kingdom held sway over a vast area including south-eastern Zanskar, Upper Kinnaur, and Spiti valley either by conquest or as tributaries. The ruins of Guge are located 1,200 miles (1,900 km) westwards from Lhasa within Tibet, not far from Mount Kailash or as Tibetans call it Gang Rinpoche (Gangs Rin-po-che, meaning "precious jewel of snows" གངས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ།). by reurinkjan
